SK-II Cellumination Trial (Part 4)

Hi there, if you've been following my SK-II trial, you'd know that I've completed the required 4 weeks. I was just as eager to find out the effects on my skin by visiting an SK-II counter for their Magic Ring Skin Test (I had done one prior to commencing the trial).

Statistically, the results showed that my skin remained more or less the same before and after the 4 weeks. A discussion with the skin consultant followed. She understood that I would naturally have expected results to be better this time round but explained that many factors could have been at play, especially the serious haze condition in Singapore during this period, hence I was subjecting myself to the dry air-conditioning 24/7. Also, when I first did the test, my results were pretty good with an average score in the high 80s. Hence it would probably take a longer period for a significant improvement, as compared to if I had started with a much lower score. She invited me to return for another skin test a few weeks later, if I was not convinced.

Before we ended our chat, my friendly skin consultant highlighted that of the 5 skin dimensions, my primary concern would be spot control. She handed me product samples which would help in improving this area. 

Would I continue using SK-II products? Sure I will! I now also know which dimension of my skin I need to focus on and the appropriate SK-II products that target this area. Thank you SK-II for having me on this trial!

SK-II Cellumination Trial (Part 3)

Hello! Here's a little update on my SK-II Cellumination Essence Ex trial. It's been 3 weeks since I started it. The exciting news is, I do feel that my skin is clearer (which means less make up when I head out) and less dull! I also like the smooth feeling I get when I cleanse my face. Less rough or uneven surface. 

I guess diligence does pay off. There are no short-cuts unfortunately. I've been applying the products twice daily and also remembering the right way to apply them. Always in the upwards direction. I find the SK-II website helpful if you are looking for simple application guides. 

Looking forward to doing my skin test next week when I end my 4-week trial, and comparing the results to my first skin test. Stay tuned!

SK-II CELLUMINATION TRIAL (Part 2)

It's been a week since I started the SK-II Cellumination Essence Ex trial (see my first post here). Visually, I can't really tell if there are any marked differences. But I must say, I'm enjoying pampering my skin and giving it a treat. I'm looking forward to witnessing that promised "radiance" soon!

Honestly, I'm a cleanse, tone and moisturise kinda person. I dislike spending a long time in the bathroom or in front of the dressing table. With this trial, I find that there's really not that much additional "work" I got to do.

Also, I've always feared the sticky feeling when one piles on lots of products on the face, be it skincare or make-up. It's like the skin can't breathe! I'm glad to report though that the 3 new additional products I am using in this trial-- Cellumination Essence EX, Cellumination Mask-in Lotion, Cellumination Day Surge UV-- are not thick and they glide on the skin easily. Here's a little reminder for all of us: if you apply too little, it's as if you're not applying at all. So make sure you are using the right amount, be sufficiently generous.

SK-II Cellumination Trial (part 1)

Hello there! I just got back from a little trip to Sydney. Yes, that means we'll have a Sydney series of posts coming right! I love traveling (duh, as if you didn't already know) but I've always been concerned about the dryness on board the flights and difference in temperature between Singapore and where I am traveling to.

SK-II has kindly invited me to take part in their 4-week Cellumination Essence Ex trial and I thought it's such perfect timing!  I'm certainly looking forward to having my skin back to "normal" again and on top of that, experience the promise of brilliant translucent aura skin! 

I just went to have my skin tested at the SK-II counter yesterday and the results weren’t too bad. Guess my daily usage of the Treatment Essence is working (justifies the money spent)! Of course, there are still areas to work on. And besides, even if one is happy with one’s skin, it needs to be maintained.  So on top of the Treatment Essence, during these 4 weeks, my regime will include 3 products from the SK-II Cellumination range which I’ve not tried:

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence

You may remember this post some time back when SK-II invited me to experience the transformation their products bring about. I also posted my thoughts after the 7 day challenge. 

Before that first day, I've never tried any SK-II products. I was pretty okay with my skincare routine and products. There were occasional days when I found my skin to be a little rough but I dismiss it because it goes away after a few days. On the whole, I'm a pretty lucky girl without many skin problems. So, it took a little nudge for me to try something new. Looking back, boy am I glad I did! My skin tone is more even, I don't have those days of rough skin any more and I look forward to the end of the day when I dab on the Facial Treatment Essence. I realised that although my skin was okay, it could be even better! Not to sound like a sell-out but I've since convinced my mother to use the Facial Treatment Essence and she introduced it to my sister too!

Other than the routine way of applying the Facial Treatment Essence, I've also tried something a little different. I have the bottle in the refrigerator and totally enjoy the cooling sensation when I dab the essence on my face! It feels like a real treat especially after being in the sweltering heat outdoors. Be Pampered - Manicurious

I first stepped into Manicurious, a seamlessly integrated retail space, cafe and nail bar, about month or so ago. Pushing the door opened, I felt suddenly removed from the hustle of the busy traffic outside. The spacious and brightly lit interior was welcoming. And trust me, your attention will be caught by the beautiful furnishings. Especially the chairs in the manicure area. They’ll be calling out your name. 

If you’re not looking for a manicure/pedicure, or if you’re waiting for your girlfriend, there’s a little cafe area to chill out in. Also check out the well curated retail space with beautifully designed items. Oh I have to add, you’ll appreciate the great and friendly service provided!

SK-II Clear for Life Project - Kym Ng Interview

You may remember the SK-II trial I did not too long ago (I’m still happily using the products by the way). Following that, I was invited to do an email interview with local MediaCorp celebrity, Kym Ng, who is involved in SK-II’s Clear for Life Project. I don’t usually do such interviews on the blog but what sparked my interest was that it was about highlighting the water crisis in asia and helping women in need connect to a source of safe and clean drinking water. 

This is something which many of us take for granted and I thought it apt to post this today. Just as many us in Singapore prepare to celebrate the approaching lunar new year (23 Jan) with lots of food and drinks, I hope we are also aware of the plight of those around us and what we can do to help. Here are Kym’s responses to a few questions of mine. And to those who celebrate it, happy dragon year!!

Q: What are some of the charity projects that you have been personally involved in?

Kym: I've always supported charity work, and over the years, I have been involved in performances for “The President’s Star Charity”, “The Cancer Charity Show” and “Ren Ci Charity Show” in a bid to raise funds for the needy. I believe strongly in furthering the work of charitable organizations. I hope that through my humble effort, I am able to help and hopefully, encourage more people to also lend their hand for the less fortunate, regardless of the extent of one's contribution.

Q: We are very fortunate to be blessed with clean drinking water in Singapore. What are your thoughts on the water crisis in Asia and SK-II’s Clear for Life Project, which helps women in need connect to a source of safe and clean drinking water. Is this something that is close to your heart?

Kym: I think this is a very pressing issue in Asia given the recent natural disasters that have hit quite close to home, eg. the earthquakes in Japan. Water is a very basic need and in Singapore, we have such easy access to water with just a simple turn of the tap. In reality, there are many out there who lack access to this basic necessity. The water issue affects women most as they are the ones who bear the bulk of the burden in transporting water.

Q: Could you tell us a little about the items you selected for SK-II’s Live the Life You Love charity auction? Why did you pick them and are they significant in any way?

Kym: I donated a pair of boots for this auction. I hope to inspire its wearer and other women to take that bold step out of their comfort zone and empower them to walk in confidence to help other women in need. I also donated a charm bracelet by Quintessential. I wore it during the filming of “It’s a Great, Great World” - my latest movie -  and the press conference event as well.

SK-II Skin Transformation Part 2

Do you remember the SK-II trial that I blogged about? Well, it's already the 7th day today! So what are my thoughts?

Initially I was a little concerned about the extra time I had to spend in the bathroom, to apply more things on my face. You see, I was previously a straightforward wash-tone-moisturise girl (hey, that's already 3 steps!). But I found that I got used to it after a while, especially when I knew I was doing good for my skin! We all deserve self-love and giving a little more time to oneself is just that. On the whole, I find my skin tone to be slightly more even as compared to before (yay!). This is based on just 7 days so I'm looking forward to more improvements with continued usage.

SK-II Skin Transformation

Recently, my lovely friend, Sarah and I were thrilled to be invited for a 7-day skin transformation with cosmetics brand, SK-II. It is a 7-day trial for us to transform our skin to crystal clarity! I have heard a lot of praise for SK-II previously but had never tried the products. This is my chance to test it out for myself!

It started with us having a one-on-one skin test and counseling session at the SK-II counter. There was a detailed explanation of our test results by the friendly SK-II consultant. So, my skin condition is generally good but there are still a few areas in which I could improve on. I also took the opportunity to ask some skin care related questions. Hehe! After that, we were each presented with a SK-II festive coffret set that catered to our skin needs (feeling pampered!). Sarah and I both received the Pitera Revival Set, which is centered on the Facial Treatment Essence.

I am of course excited to try it out and looking forward to seeing the improvements to my skin! What better way to treat my skin after all that sun exposure during my island getaway last weekend. Yesterday night was the first time I used the products. Guess what? I’m going to track and share my skin results over here. At the end of the 7 day, we’ll see if this is a yay or nay. Exciting!
