Nondescript exterior that belies the gem within. A little cafe, Coffee-Ten I, in Japan that oozes with character. I love that the interior allows one to feel alienated from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. In there, perched on a high wooden chair, you watch your coffee being carefully made and seconds later the aroma of fresh beans fill the tiny room.

Hi there, how’s the week treating you so far? Good I hope. I’ve started sewing some tote bags again and am making use of some cute fabric I carried all the way home from Tokyo from my last visit. Speaking of Tokyo, I’ve also been squeezing in some time to plan for my upcoming trip in October. I super duper thrilled about it!!
Meantime, I’m loving the work of illustrator and designer Heather Moore. I love her style of simple and beautiful motifs.

Seriously love your cheese but get put off by how the cheese board looks after others have started digging in? Raise up your hand if that’s you! The girls at Ritzy Bee Events came up with a really clever (and beautiful) way to get round this-- individual cheese platters for everyone!

I went on a very short trip to Penang last week. It was my first time there and I had fun! What struck me was how the architecture of the buildings and houses reflect Penang’s rich, interesting and diverse heritage. It was like history textbooks coming alive! Penang’s reminiscent of 1970s Singapore and I appreciated its laidback charm and folks seem to be friendlier too!
And of course, no trip to Penang is complete without sampling the cheap and absolutely yummy hawker food!
I went into Kinokuniya wanting to buy 1 item. I came out with 3 (and that’s after painful shortlisting). This is fast becoming the norm. One of the books I bought was on dessert shops in Tokyo. I’m feasting my eyes on those pretty AND cute things! Here’s a few:

How are you doing? I had an enjoyable weekend :). Had the chance to go on a running route that’s new to me, did some sewing, indulged in desserts... I also visited Daiso. I LOVE Daiso. And was totally elated when they arrived on local shores not long after my return from Japan. Whenever I’m nostalgic for Japanese stuff, I pop in there. What’s amazing is the range of items they stock in there, all for a flat rate!
This time round, I was hooked on the bento section! They had all these cute little bento boxes and related accessories. Sadly though, I hardly pack my lunch to have it outside so there was really no excuse to fill my basket with these items. My time on the internet today has been spent on bento-related searches. Nosey me am always curious to find out what lies inside other’s bento boxes. I’m having lotsa fun and here’s a glimpse into what my eyes have been feasting on:
I wonder if you noticed that the bento in the 3rd image was definitely sitting on a furoshiki. You can tell because of the creases on the fabric. So authentically Japanese!

Hi lovelies! An old doodle of mine for you (click to enlarge).
It just became clearer to me that when we blog, doodle in our journals, store images in our Tumblr... what we’re trying to do is to document bits of ourselves and our lives. Then one day when we look back at all these, we will remember the persons we were, the events in our lives and the loves we had. I wonder if I would then be closer to becoming the person I want to be right now, or have taken a totally different path.
