Custom Notecards

How was your weekend, lovelies? I completed a set of custom notecards for a bride-to-be and packed it over the weekend. Each notecard had the name of her friend embroidered on it, accompanied with a photo of them and a sweet message from the bride. The card is framed by a stitched border.

Transported to Japan - Octa Hotel

If you know me, you’ll know that I’m always on the prowl for things Japanese-related. Octa Hotel in Milenia made my heart skip a beat because I felt as if I’ve stepped into a cafe in Tokyo (just don’t look at the familiar buildings outside)! That’s right, it’s a cafe and not any form of accommodation. Like many such cafes in Japan, this one is French-inspired and is beautifully decorated so. Food’s good too!

I love that they have these baskets, just like in Japan, for ladies to put our bags in. How thoughtful!

They sell some pretty household items as well :)

Octa Hotel originated in Fukuoka but has since expanded to many branches in Kyushu. And now, Singapore!

Little Details of My Work Space

One of my favourite things to do is to look at images of other people’s work area. It’s inspiring and fun! I also realised I’ve never posted any pictures of my living space on Cookie Cutter. So, I took a few random shots of some details in my work space. Here you go:

House of Books

How was the week for you? Regardless, I’m sure you’re happy that the weekend is here. On some weekends, I just want to laze in the house, sit on the couch and read a book. And if I could do it in a house like this one I’m about to show you, I would have died and be in paradise.

Christmas Eve 2010

If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll probably know how I spent my Christmas eve last December. Otherwise, here are a few photos on it.

T and I decided that we will spend it away from the crowd and fancy restaurants. So, I packed him (roast beef) and myself (salmon) a fresh hearty sandwich, a bottle of wine, and off we went to the Botanical Garden! It was raining on our way there. We didn’t let it deter us and it soon stopped.

Japanese-inspired French pastries - Flor

Hello there! Are you enjoying 2011 so far? I know I’ve taken a longer leave than expected. A family member had a minor accident so we’ve all been a little busier at home. But I didn’t forget about you guys! And regardless of how the year started, I’m going to be positive and believe that it’s going to be a great year!

For this first post, I want to let you in on this little patisserie with REALLY yummy Japanese-inspired French pastries! Flor (pronounced “fu-ro-ru” is nicely hidden along the quiet Duxton Hill. Its design is simple but warm, a charm I find quintessentially Japanese. The Japanese lady boss at the counter was full of cheer, smile and politeness. When T and I returned from Tokyo last year and suffered from withdrawal symptoms, Flor was one of our antidotes!

Cute signboard reminiscent of many shops in Japan!

These pictures were taken by my iPhone and really don’t do the place justice,

especially this cake.

But trust me, the cakes are all unbelievably soft, moist and light!

I had this really refreshing tea as well!

You may thank me after you've checked out this little gem :p
